Library Design & Renovation

From Vision to Reality—A Library Reimagined

Inkster, Michigan

MCD Architects partnered with Inkster Public Library to redesign and expand a 7,000-square-foot building into a vibrant 10,000-square-foot community space. With careful planning, strategic problem-solving, and collaboration with local government officials, we overcame challenges like limited budget and COVID-19 disruptions to deliver a modern library that serves as a vital resource for the community.

Expanding Possibilities
Originally a 7,000-square-foot structure, the library’s renovation and expansion introduced:

  • A Career Resource Center for job seekers and workforce development.

  • Dedicated study rooms for collaboration and quiet learning.

  • A young adult space designed to engage the next generation.

  • A modern architectural update, seamlessly blending with the existing structure.
