WHO WE ARE

Our company, MCD Architects, has been using architecture to add value to Michigan communities since 1934.

​

We are a people-oriented organization that works with our clients to assess their needs, analyze alternatives, and then develop creative design solutions. Our projects have ranged from minor renovations and additions to entirely new facilities. In each case, we provide the same comprehensive design service uniquely suited and bringing value to our client’s specific needs. At the same time, we provide them with the personalized service, which has become the hallmark of our practice.

OUR MISSION

Creative design solutions are never the result of a solitary effort. They result from the collective effort of the architect and client who are committed to achieving the specific goals of the project.

Our commitment to creative and effective design solutions is evidenced by the many new and renovated facilities we have completed since 1934. Size and budget play no role in our design approach. Each project is unique in its requirements and as such deserves individually unique and innovative design solutions.

Our firm understands the importance and need for sustainable design now and in the future. It is our goal to help our clients understand the value this brings to their project and then to provide creative options scaled to their particular needs.

 

As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, we are always exploring options for bringing passive and active systems into our designs so as to develop functional, attractive, and environmentally responsive facilities.

AWARDS

2002 Merit Award - American Society of Landscape Architects was awarded to MCD Architects in recognition of outstanding professional achievement for the new Flat Rock Community Fields in Flat Rock, Michigan.

2009 Crew Impact Award was awarded to MCD Architects for the adaptive re-use of the former Redford District Library building into a new open air market/community gathering area - the Redford Marquee. The award Committee noted that "the adaptive re-use of the former library exemplifies sensitivity to the environment and is truly a 'Green Design' The Marquee has transformed an aging downtown district into a vibrant downtown destination and sparked increased economic development in this urban area."

2014 Design and Construction Showcase Award - Construction Association of Michigan was awarded to MCD Architects for the renovation of the church at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Northville, Michigan. Our Lady of Victory was selected as an outstanding construction project for 2014 in the State of Michigan.
